Basel is a city full of history and traditional hospitality is widespread. There are plenty of old inns and guild houses, beer halls and wine pubs. Discover them! Sushi, Bejing Duck, Kebab, Falafel, Tandoori, Fajitas? In Basel you find all kind of exotic cuisines. Whether anatolian, portuguese, cantonese, thai, mexican, indian, greek, american or Kosher: There are over 60 restaurants with specialities from all over the world.
When darkness descends over the city, when its lights are reflected in the waters of the River Rhine, when the first jazz, blues and rock chords waft across the waves from the culture float, Basel’s Riviera is transformed into a magical place.
Im Fluss – the name of the music festival staged on Basel’s “Rhyviera”. This is the eleventh year that the float will be moored on the banks of the Rhine in Basel. The event hosts everything from delicate harmonies to thunderous rock riffs; by wind, rain and sultry temperatures, although not when the river is in flood. The musical offerings are always surprisingly new and as lively as the waters of the Rhine. The concerts will be held from 27 July to 14 August 2010 on the northern or “Kleinbasel” bank of the River Rhine. The float is moored above the Mittlere Brücke. Concerts begin each day at 9 p.m. and last one hour (exception: 31 July 2010, Swiss National Day 7:50 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. Entrance is free. Members of the audience may place donations in a collection box.
